The Meaning of Beta-Barekeng
The name Beta-Barekeng reflects both mathematical significance and local cultural identity. The word “Beta” refers to a mathematical symbol or Greek letter, while in the Ambonese language of Eastern Indonesia it also means “I” or “me.” The word “Barekeng” means “to count” or “counting.” Therefore, Beta-Barekeng may be interpreted as “I Count.”
